Early Brain Development, Addiction and Recovery Education: Interprofessional Learning Team

The Alberta Family Wellness Initiative of the Norlien Foundation is a three year strategy in knowledge mobilization for addiction. The inaugural Recovery from Addiction: A Science in Action Symposium was launched in October 2010. The Symposium brought together health professionals, clinical educators, policymakers and researchers to explore cutting edge research, share expertise across disciplines and participate in activities and processes that will encourage new ways of thinking about addiction, research, policy, education and clinical practice.

During the Symposium, interprofessional learning teams were created to develop a strategy to promote understanding amongst health professionals, government, organizations and communities of early brain and biological development and its connection to addictions and to promote the enhancement of services with respect to addictions.

Overtime, learning team #10 will work collaboratively to promote and create awareness of a common language within and between disciplines in the area of educational competencies related to early brain development and addiction.
