Online modules are a useful way to present content to students. This module will help you learn practical skills enabling you to create your own module. In addition, we hope to stimulate you to think about the way you design your module based on underlying pedagogical principles.
Start with creating an outline for your module. A predictable structure will help make your module more user-friendly. It is also a way to ensure that you include standard elements such as objectives, formative assessment and summary sections. You can create your outline a variety of ways:
- On paper
- Using an electronic tool you are familiar with such as Word
- Directly into the module
Here is a suggested structure for a generic module:
Introduction/overview
Objectives
Glossary
Foundational knowledge

Topic 2
Topic 3
