CHEC-CESC Virtual Patient Working Group

The goal of this group is to share ideas, information, resources and expertise on the development  and evaluation of virtual patients (VPs).

 

What is a virtual patient?

 

“An interactive computer simulation of real-life clinical scenarios for the purpose of medical training, education or assessment” (Ellaway, Candler, Greene & Smothers)  

 

“A specific type of computer-based program that simulates real-life clinical scenarios; learners emulate the roles of health care providers to obtain a history, conduct a physical exam, and make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions” (Candler)
