Blog vs Blogpost

The terms used to describe the community blog posts is a bit confusing.  Communities can publish a 'blog', which can be commented upon much like a typical blog-post in conventional blog engines. A blog in the conventional sense is composed up of multiple posts... but in CHEC-CESC the community can only publish a blog, that has no subtopics (only comments) below.

Would it be more consistent to say that a community publishes Posts?  The Community Blog Page, where all the submissions are displayed, then makes sense as the collection of posts, and comments.

Exploring the Learning Community

The CHEC-CESC website is worth exploring further, considering its capacity to house extended communities of practice that span the various medical schools.  I've not had success in facilitating discussions among the Portfolio or Curriculum Mapping groups, but there is more that can be done there.  Applying some CoP principles.

A start.

CHEC-CESC Update - New theme pages increase visibility and connect resources across the site

CHEC-CESC  UPDATE -  July 18, 2011

New theme pages increase visibility and connect resources across the site

The CHEC-CESC theme page is a new portal feature.  Theme pages can be accessed through tags on the site and offers pathways to related materials, discussions, ideas, people and events all on one page. Theme pages connect communities with similar topics and will help increase the exposure of resources contributed by our CHEC-CESC members.

Immunization procedures

Greetings from sunny Halifax,

I would graeatly value your feedback  on immunization policy and practices accross the country, focused on the issue of communicable infections. We have made  some stumbles in managing the process for students who are Hep B positive and have been formulating new procedures ,as we deal with a current case.

As part of our discussion, we have had some of our experts point out that by only testing for HepB, we miss the more common HepC, and HIV. Should these  be screened for in the first term as we do for HepB?

What Learning Management System are being used for PGME at the universities?

Hello everyone. My name is Steve Nesbitt and I am the manager of IT for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba.

We are starting an RFP process to find a Learning Management System for our post graduate program (Scheduling, Evaluation...). While the RFP process will define the specific requirements we are looking for, I was hoping to reach out to the IT community and see if I can get some information on;

first post

Hello,

It is my pleasure to join this online community and hopefully contribute to this important initiative. In this first post I would like to briefly outline my interest in the AFCM-Infoway Physician in Training project.

On-Call Question

Dear colleagues:

Our Access and Diversity office has told us that a student who will be starting Year 3 in the fall, will be unable to  work between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am because of a medical condition.  This is not a temporary restriction – rather, it is for the foreseeable future.  This effectively means that the student cannot do any night work and cannot do ‘call’.  Have any of you faced this kind of restriction?  If so, how have you handled it?  Is “Call’ mandatory in your program?
